Evy's hospital pictures

are protected by certain copy write laws and a really good web programmer that will not allow the simple copy and paste. So, if you want to see the official hospital photos (which I guarantee are worth it), point your browser to http://www.growingfamily.com/webnursery/default.asp The hospital we were at in North Memorial in Robbinsdale andunder June babies find Genevyra P next to June 21 (weren't there a ton of babies born that day?) and then the password you need to get in is X4H2H5P8Q8

If you have big problems working through the site just give us a call.

Genevyra Lynn Pohlman has arrived.

Yep, our sweet little baby girl is here. I will give the short run down. We went to see the doctor early Monday morning and after doing an ultrasound they decided that the baby did not have much amniotic fluid left. They sent us over to the hospital at 10 and started to induce labor at 12 with cervadil. I had contractions and was uncomfortable all of Monday, but at midnight I was still no farther along. They let me sleep until 6 am(thought the contractions continued). Tuesday morning they started pitocin and the contractions got stronger. I finally got an epidural around 2ish in the afternoon. It was beautiful while it lasted, but they had to come in and top it off a couple of times. Things moved a bit quicker after that. I got to start pushing around 10:30 Tuesday night (I think the Twins game had just gotten over). At 12:40 Wednesday morning Genevyra was born. She did awesome for the whole labor and delivery. Her heartbeat stayed strong and constant. She weighed 7 lbs 13 oz at birth and was 20 1/2 inches. Her name was my great grandmother's middle name with a "y" added, of course. We are calling her Evy for short. We got to come home on Thursday afternoon and it is just wonderful and amazing. I have more pics to download, so I promise more updates later.

Baby is still on the inside...

Happy Juneteenth!
Larye and I went to the Juneteenth Parade today in North Minneapolis and had a really good time. I know this picture doesn't look like it, but believe me it was fun to see all the drill teams and Miss Black USA and get all the random free stuff. I even got well wishes from our city councilperson Don Samuels. It is always fun to see which politicians show up for Juneteenth. Mark Kennedy's people never even got out of their truck!

Monday we have a doctor appointment in the morning where they will do an ultrasound and stress test to check out the baby's condition, and we will set a date for induction if this little one doesn't show up by then. Come to find out Larye's due date was Dec. 25th and he wasn't born until Jan. 11, and I heard that I was three weeks late too! Maybe this just runs in the family. Prayers that the next update is the birth announcement!

June 12

So today is the baby's due date. I keep trying to tell myself that babies come when they are ready. This would be all well and good if I hadn't had several hours of painful contractions Wednesday night, Thursday night and then again last night. They stay about 10 mins. apart and go away when I fall asleep. At least they are probably doing some work in getting my body ready. We go see the doctor again on Wednesday and we hopefully will talk about induction dates, but they don't like to do it at my clinic until you are two weeks over. So, in the meantime, here is a great picture of Larye sitting in the glider at the other end of the baby's room...

And now for all the getting ready

The baby's room is so cute and so many people helped us put it all together. So now I have to show it off...

This is one end of the room. You can see the crib to the right and the dresser/changing table to the left. My dad and Larye put together the crib (we have some great video of that). Larye and his mom and dad put together the dresser and painted it. All the painting was done while I was gone at one very long church meeting (Synod Assembly). A big shout out goes to Chris Anderson for joining Larye on his failed attempts to get this dresser from Ikea, and his wonderful help hauling it up the stairs when it finally came in at the store.

You can kind of see the painting my mom did in that picture, but in this one you can also see how big the baby is today. So in this picture (from today) I am 39 weeks and 2 days.

Larye's mom and a few of her friends painted the room "Curious George" yellow, and then my mom came and painted Curious George on the wall. I am pretty sure she did it just looking at the picture from the book. She is seriously talented. Her and my Uncle Tim did stenciling all around the room of little jungle vines and a few of George's other animal friends. It is so wonderful to go in there and just feel surrounded by all the love and time and work that everyone put into it all because they already love this baby so much.

I really hate this picture but...

we have not been great at taking pictures. This one was taken March 9th when I was 26 weeks along (the start of month #7). For those of you who haven't been at our house this is in the entry way. This shirt was also one of my favorite Old Navy bargain finds. Alas, it no longer fits as the baby has gotten much bigger.

I am a terrible blogger.

Wow, I am really no good at keeping up with this. My hope and prayer (yes, I've had to enlist Jesus) is that when the baby comes I will have really good reason and I will be so proud you will be begging for less blogging.

So I will start tonight with pictures of me as the baby is getting bigger. This first one is me on the beach in from of our hotel in Mazatlan. We went at the end of Feb. as our babymoon. When this picture was taken I was 24 weeks along (Middle of month 6) It was wonderful.

And here's Larye making new friends. We had to find a Sr. Frog since Mazatlan is where they started and Larye's uncle had brought him back a shirt from here in the early 90's that Larye says is the most comfortable shirt he has ever owned. Ummm, yeah, there is a Sr. Frog's shop on every corner. Sr. Frog's is to Mazatlan as Starbucks is to every major American city. Larye didn't get a shirt, but the baby got a very cute onsie and bib combo.
