Swimming!

So Evy is no longer two weeks old (see post from July 11 "But she's only two weeks old...") so she came with me and the big kids from church to Elm Creek Nature Reserve's swimming pond. First of all this is a strange thing to me. It is not really a lake. It's not really a pool. It bears no resemblance to my grandpa's pond either. This is a hole dug in the ground with a liner put in and a whole ton of sand dumped in and then it was filled with water. There are filters and a tiny bit of chlorine. The good things are there are no fish, no slimy seaweed, no real dirt. The bad things are there are no fish, no seaweed, and no real dirt. But because all those things were missing Evy got to put her feet in. It is such a strange artificial idea of "beach". I'd rather have cold Lake Superior and grandma and grandpa Moyle's stocked to the gills fish pond any day. The only cool thing you find in the sand here is used chewing gum. Ok, enough of my rant about fake lakes.

Here we all are (except Heather, the other adult who is taking the picture).
From Left to right:
Alisha, Bruce, Evy, Melissa, Shaquana, and Twyla.

Here are our feet.

And Evy at the end of the day.

Overall it was a good day. I got a little burnt. Evy got to nap outside. And the kids had a blast.

Church Picnic

Hello! Yesterday was the church picnic and Larye was awesome and remembered to take pictures. This one is so very cute. larye was trying to take a picture by himself of him and Evy because I was off doing something pastoral. I love Evy's eyes.

So, this one must have been taken after he asked one of the nice church people to help him out...

Thanks to Uncle Kevin and Aunt Judy, Mason and Carli for Evy's cute summer outfit complete with hat! We also went to see a bunch of friends from Augsburg FCA and all their babies, but I completely forgot to take pictures, sorry. Hopefully we'll have them over soon and line up the babies for some photos.

A weekend of firsts.

So Evy had a very full and wonderful weekend. She attended her first wedding. Our friends Paul and Katie were married on Saturday. We know them from the Seminary. It was soul restoring to have so many of my friends from Sem around. Here is the whole group.

Then on Sunday Evy was baptized at Christ English and welcomed into God's family. Our friend Nick preached and washed our daughter of her sin. She cried pretty hard. Pretty normal reaction since we would all rather keep our sin than give it up to Jesus and be compelled to love our neighbor. (Ok, only my Sem friends are going to think that's funny...pastor humor.) Evy wasn't all about getting pictures taken. She thought it was a pretty bad joke that Mom held her while she got water on her head and then didn't feed her. So she cried through the pictures. My mom made Evy's gown out of her wedding dress. Here is the best picture...

Then today she had her two month old shots. She did awesome. Larye and I touched her and kissed her while they were going in. She screamed while they were happening and then I nursed her and she was thrilled. Evy actually smiled after her shots. She has been a bit more fussy tonight, but I would be too after 4 shots in my little chubby legs. Evy is now 12lbs 4 oz and 23 inches long.

She just now spent 10 mins. smiling at her monkeys before going to sleep. (Hopefully we'll soon have video of Evy talking with her new friends the monkeys.)

Love you all.

Everyone is healthy...

and Evy is happy, but

the Pilot is in the shop again.
Larye and Evy were on their way to walk around Lake Calhoun when a man named Frank got lost and confused and drove the wrong way down Thomas Ave N. So Frank didn't stop at the intersection because there are no stop signs facing the wrong way and Larye couldn't stop in time. Thankfully, they braked for a long while before they hit and they were in the Pilot. Larye said Evy never cried and when he went back to check on her in her car seat after the accident she smiled at him. We went and saw the Dr. who said she is just fine. We also found out that she is 11lbs 13oz and 23 inches now! So we are just waiting for the Pilot to be fixed and using Cora and Henry's car seat since ours had to be thrown away. (Thanks Beth.) Baby's first car accident.

The first picture is Evy all dressed up for her first Sunday at Christ English which was last Sunday. Jim and Erin and Noah got her the cutest shirt and skirt!

Rachelle came to visit this week too! So here is a cute picture of Evy and Chell bonding.

Sorry we have been slow to post but as you can see there has been a lot of excitment lately and we are working on birth annoucements. So more from us later.
